A family breeding operation built on generations of experience
Located at Baynton in Central Victoria, Jews Harp Studs is a family-owned sheep breeding operation dedicated to producing quality genetics for the Australian lamb industry.
Established in 1984 by Michael O’Sullivan, the operation began with the formation of Jews Harp Poll Dorset Stud. Named after the nearby Jews Harp Creek, the stud was built on a commitment to breeding structurally sound, high-performing rams suited to commercial prime lamb production.
Over four decades later, that same commitment continues through three specialist breeding programs: Jews Harp Poll Dorsets, Baynton Border Leicesters and Mission White Suffolks.
Our Story
From the beginning, the focus at Jews Harp has been simple: breed sheep that perform.
The stud has always placed importance on combining visual assessment, performance recording and commercial experience to produce functional genetics that deliver results for producers.
Jews Harp became a member of Lambplan in 1990, allowing performance data to play an important role in breeding decisions and genetic improvement. In 1991, the stud joined Meat Elite, working alongside other leading Poll Dorset breeders to share knowledge, access leading genetics and contribute to the ongoing improvement of the lamb industry.
Today, the O’Sullivan family continues this commitment through a complete breeding operation focused on producing reliable genetics for modern sheep producers.
